Description
Volume 1 – the “Amiga” book
This book features images with 5- to 8-bit colour depth. Some of the best pixel art work ever created on the Amiga, but also from the Atari and PC.
Pixel graphics in a stylish art book
The Masters of Pixel Art presents a selection of the very best pixel artwork and the artists behind it in an exclusive production. A beautiful coffee table book that can be presented along other art- or photo books, helping to show off the real potential of pixel art as well as inspire, impress and inform.
As additional content, many images are presented with background information, comments by the editor and in-depht stories from the artists themselves. The pixel graphics that emerged in the 80’s has inspired and created a sub-cultural era of pixelled art. This is an attempt to capture the style and soul from that period of pioneering and creativity.

If you love pixel art like I do; you need this book. It’s very well presented with excellent quality with interesting desriptions from each artist. For me it was a big nostalgia trip but also fresh work from many artists I didn’t know about were showcased.
It makes you realize that pixeling is in fact an art medium in itself and not just early computer doodles. VERY inspiring to anyone into graphic design or digital art. And the pricing is more than fair. I’ve already recommended this to friends. 🙂
This book is beautifully presented, and smacks of style. The print quality is high, and the book has a good heavy weight to it. I’m no graphic designer, and definitely not an artist – but I have a huge appreciation for pixel art stemming from having grown up next to a Commodore-64 and graduated to an Amiga. As a result, this book is equal amounts nostalgia and artistic – but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I’ve kickstarted a few books in recent years, and I’ve been disappointed by more than a few. This is definitely not one of them, very nicely done.
When I got the book, my first thought was : “Oh, it is even bigger than I thought” (certainly because I misread the dimensions on the item page). For this one, bigger is better. The printing quality is top and the pictures are well showed. You can spot details and the pictures, without filling that it got too much magnified. The author did a great job, for sure.
I did know the demoscene before, but I missed a lot by knowing this community late. This book is for me a way to better understand what the past was and better appreciate the production from the artists.
It’s certainly a must have, for anyone related to demoscene and for all pixel lovers.
It’s really a wonderful collection, some artists are missing but it’s not possible to have them all. It’s perhaps almost a requirement to have some foreknowledge of the demoscene (?) but if you love pixel art it really won’t matter. Great quality, heavy duty book!
